#Question: Which #freeSoftware #inventoryManagement or #assetManagement are people using?
Just some lab equipment and similar assets, nothing fancy. Needs support for scan codes (#QRcode). Must be web based for a small team. Needs to run on #Debian.
#InvenTree #StorageBoxx #SnipeIt #openBIS #help #lazyverse #openSource
I would like to know this too.
I tried the #InvenTree demo and it's far too much for my use case. Needs to be simpler, e.g. no "Parts", no "Manufacturing", no "Sales" here.
Apparently you can use Zbar to scan QR codes and barcodes with a camera, and then paste the results into LibreOffice Calc.
Maybe this can be automated?
LibreOffice Calc can create QR codes and barcodes for you.
I've never done this myself, so it's just a pointer 🙂
PS. both are packages in Debian of course.
@debacle InvenTree is intended as a fully fledged inventory management; sounds like a simpler asset management solution like Snipe-It might be enough for your simple use cases
Yes! #InvenTree is just too good for me 😉
(Amazing project btw.!)
Even #SnipeIt seems to do far too much for my simple use case.
I already fear NIH 🙂
Still not sure what I want to set up to track my parts; I need DigiKey import and barcode printing support.
@werdahias @debacle InvenTree can do that and I think for the average electronics nerd/semi-professional the feature set proves to be required.
A lot of stuff can be configured; maybe take a look at https://docs.inventree.org/en/stable/start/config/ to see what is possible.
@debacle FWIW, you don't actually have to use all the bits that Snipe-IT comes with ;)
Need to check if/how I can disable all the unneeded functions then.
