"Freiheit ist immer Freiheit des anders Denkenden." - Rosa Luxemburg

@thomasfuchs
This one has messed me up enough times i should have thrown it away by now

A test cable with alligator clips on one end and banana plugs on the other. There are two wires molded together, one black and one red. The red wire has a red connector on one end and a black connector on the other. The black wire is similarly mixed up except that the wire itself is also half red.

That's 5D-educational chess.

| recently heard about a teacher who instead of
trying to circumvent students using ai, which is
impossible, she made assignments by going "ask
ChatGPT to write a report on this subject, and
then research how and why it's wrong".
Not only did the students discover that chatGPT
is extremely wrong a lot of the time, it also lead
them to realize that they should not use it as a
primary source.

photo of three small kittens, grey, orange, and black with three speech bubbles reading "I'm ffmpeg", "i'm ffplay" and "i'm ffprobe" respectively. at the bottom the caption reads "the ffmpeg brothers"

@mcc @kbm0 error, failure, panic, failed, etc.

- Great Technomancer, I keep waking up every day and think I live in ancient times!

- Let me guess, you keep thinking it's January 1st, 1970? You're not the first, it's those knockoff implants from Antarctica. 64 bits for a nanosecond counter, when will they ever learn... anyway, easy fix, listen up: PLUS PLUS PLUS

German prosecutors are making a strong statement about G20 in 2017: cops can do whatever the fuck the want, to whom they want, whenever, wherever, you aren't safe

@decathorpe yeah I know, just found it morbidly funny

@killyourfm ah, the PNW, really want to travel there again. So beautiful

tfw you read your profs book to study and it mentions "entartete"/degenerate semiconductors o.O

ja fuck, der ICE endet in Brüssel Nord und ich muß selbst sehen, wie ich nach Midi komme 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😾

DisplayPort is better than HDMI, no contest

@grillchen @miles to add: You can also check kleinanzeigen.de for apartements. Note that once you move you'll have to register with the civil office that you live there now.

the longer you look the worse it gets

@tjw On the day Opteron was supposed to tape out, a colleague discovered a logic bug. After some analysis, we figured out we could fix it by disconnecting a wire from one gate and attaching it to another. But running through or design flow would take days, and the ripple effect of changing connectivity could cause more problems. So I loaded the chip mask into VIM and modified the polygons directly, then we taped it out.

Don’t remember for sure, but I don’t think we told management 🙂

Another Linux culture rant

So many enthusiasts are so freaking detached from reality, what the fuck.

"Udev… is well-enough exposed that a standard user can manually script it to do things like performing certain tasks when a certain hard drive is plugged in."

What kind of "standard user" do these people imagine to exist? Definitely not standard as in "society", but in "my little enthusiast' bubble".

This pisses me off so phenomenally.

Udev is the Linux subsystem that supplies your computer with device events. In plain English, that means it's the code that detects when you have things plugged into your computer, like a network card, external hard drives (including USB thumb drives), mouses, keyboards, joysticks and gamepads, DVD-ROM drives, and so on. That makes it a potentially useful utility, and it's well-enough exposed that a standard user can manually script it to do things like performing certain tasks when a certain hard drive is plugged in.

@bionk @die_Leo gibt nur drecksnationalisten. Niemand der einen Staat aus patriotischen Gründen stärken möchte kann ein decent human being sein.

I have unintentionally built a circuit that can distinguish between two copies of the same PCB manufactured by JLCPCB in the same batch. I kind of wonder what this is picking up on. I suspect fiber weave effects, or minor variations in dielectric thickness.

Where is the option to hide all the Christian apps I don't want over 9000 FOSS bibles in my frontpage

@sad_electronics is this a stamdard banana?
