Ethics aside, we can clearly no longer deny the utility of necromancy. Perhaps a year ago, when the pathetic shambling of the animated dead so often made a hollow mockery of our arts. But now! Incantations that once took weeks of toil can be wrested from their tormented souls in mere minutes!

Without the awesome power of the newly dead coursing through our veins, how are we to solve the great problems of our age, like the mysterious disappearance of so many of our elderly and sick friends, or the festering piles of rotten flesh that now clog our streets and homes?

If you still have qualms about using the large soul providers, you can always obtain your own local, free range specimens, although of course they won’t obey quite as faithfully as ones from the leading charnel houses.

Honestly, do you want to be left behind?

@anarchiv well, that might be, but the wider society is still pretty male-centric, in a way.

this rant was brought to you by the current debian-vote megathread.

"Is it bad if I use an LLM to even write one line of code as contribution to Debian?"

Yes it fucking is, and I am tired of explaining why.

@anarchiv thanks, I needed that. Positive masculinity is often hard, especially in a patriarchal society.

Nice, my talks for #MRMCD were accepted.

@navi understandable. That's what me me choose electrical engineering over computer science: Because it is pretty satisfying to see a LED blink at the end of the day.

Though I had to debug SPI and devicetrees today, so YMMV.

Again a productive train ride:

- Reviewed a MR for skim
- Rebased my own against debvm
- Opened a new MR against KiCad adding a TPM2.0 chip
- Did some uni work (begrudgingly)

@mirabilos thanks for the insight, that makes sense.

TIL Deutsche Bahn offers somewhat decent green tea on the board restaurant,

@mirabilos ah, thanks

@mirabilos eh, yeah, meant /etc/tty. Yeah, I know BSDs slightly differ, hence my question. The plan would be to read that - > check if /dev/ttyFOO exists - > then create a symlink for the getty service

Question for the #BSD community:

Am I correct in assuming on boot, /etc/tty is read and then init spawns serials consoles if the corresponding serial console exists under /dev?

Context is https://github.com/OpenRC/openrc/issues/1039

Thoughts/comments would be appreciated.
Also would be interested if anyone runs a #BSD with OpenRC.
CC @mirabilos

@kpcyrd thanks!

@anarchiv reading theory is easier than doing actual politics. Maybe that's why the revolution is not happening?

I proudly present: Basic Debian-style #openRC network init is working. Gentoos' openrc uses a more BSD-like networking; thus, some changes were needed.

Still needs some polish, but the interfaces are started correctly now.
Next step is integration with resolvconf, and more testing. Still pretty satisfied, since this was one of the major blockers.
A terminal screenshot showing openrc booting Debian in qemu, with the network interfaces being started.

Hello Fedi #electronics bubble. Does anyone know of any #Displayport MST IC that is available for non-commercial purposes? I know Synaptics and Kinetic Technology produce some, but those aren't some you can't just buy.

#FediHelp

@fabos no?

@fabos no, those are my screwdrivers

Finally changed my bikes' handles
Two old, worn bikehandles on the ground , a screwdriver tool set beside it
