@nina_kali_nina It's not the "Magnetic Recording Handbook" nor "The Complete Handbook of Magnetic Recording" ;
I do remember it was the first in a series, and had a brown-ish cover.

Hello Fedi,
recently someone posted a book that detailed how to build #floppies from scratch (including the ferrofluid etc.) I thought I had saved or boosted it, but apparently not. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact title, maybe @nina_kali_nina knows? In general the book was talking about magnetic storage, and was from the 80's (I think). Please boost.
EDIT:
Found it thanks to @vaporeon_ and @gloriouscow , it's "Magnetic Recording, Volume 1".

I guess my weirdest achievement so far:
Having started a #Debian GR with probably the most options, ever.

@mirabilos hehe
@Diziet great work! Feel free to send a mail.
@nilesh huh, TIL. I assumed otherwise.
@rose would definitly read it
To combat the current existential dread I played some Wolfenstein today and that was rather satisfying.
Voting is now open:

I just submitted mine, I hope one of the sane options wins. Mine would require a 3:1 majority which might be unlikely, here's to hoping. Though I could live with Proposal C too.

"AI" doesn't "escape sandboxes" or "commit cybercrimes." Careless software developers write software that can do that, then run it without proper industry safeguards that have existed for decades, then get off the hook for the consequences because yall keep letting them claim "ai did it." No it fucking didn't. Stop personifying LLM agents. Stop letting others personify LLM agents. Call them on their bullshit and don't let this nonsense spread.
@anarchiv well, that might be, but the wider society is still pretty male-centric, in a way.
"Is it bad if I use an LLM to even write one line of code as contribution to Debian?"
Yes it fucking is, and I am tired of explaining why.

@anarchiv thanks, I needed that. Positive masculinity is often hard, especially in a patriarchal society.
Nice, my talks for #MRMCD were accepted.
@navi understandable. That's what me me choose electrical engineering over computer science: Because it is pretty satisfying to see a LED blink at the end of the day.
Though I had to debug SPI and devicetrees today, so YMMV.

Again a productive train ride:
- Reviewed a MR for skim
- Rebased my own against debvm
- Opened a new MR against KiCad adding a TPM2.0 chip
- Did some uni work (begrudgingly)

@mirabilos thanks for the insight, that makes sense.
