Internet weirdo, F/OSS enjoyer, Debian Culter, pursuing a degree by day, spending my nights sleepless :p; feel free to reach out, and have a great day!

@billchenchina @sahil oh thanks, I was looking for something like that! @kishy (btw)

@nilesh @sahil oh yeah, was considering that for now, but not owning a domain and currently don't have spare funds for that

Today I visited the Houweling Telecom Museum in . This was a real treat. There are a wide selection of interesting electromechanical artefacts and many of them are wired in and can be demonstrated by volunteers. I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest!

Museum exhibits relating to telephone bells, and payphones. Many examples of each are shown, including a payphone with the casing removed so the mechanisms are visible Many antique telephones (mostly with wood or bakelite cases) on display. An example of copper telephone wires being very neatly bundled together into a cable. This is a demonstration piece, it resembles a sort of stylised tree.

@sahil another collectively hosted mail server run at actiu.info, though I fantasies of selfhosting in mind

migrating emails? need to mass subscribe to all your Debian mailing lists again? has the web form you remember being limited 3 years ago disappointed you again?

Try subscribing over email itself! just spam an email with To: to all the {lists}-REQUEST@lists.debian.org and with the subject header including subscribe.

Does it work?

well my email just got bombed with ~20 something emails to confirm subscribing to lists, try it today!

Shout out to this project.

"Standard Ebooks is a volunteer-driven project that produces new editions of public domain ebooks that are lovingly formatted, open source, free of U.S. copyright restrictions, and free of cost."

Absolutely incredible.

re: Reasons why being able to put a theme on your OS is necessary for it to be accessible
@piuvas @Kuniti_shino @researchfairy Oh yeah exactly, I think we had this exact discussion at some point, but themeing should be a user choice, but also it isnt the original dev's issue to deal with unsupported configs, I do generally agree even as a """maintainer""" of an icon pack for linux

~also oh hi piuvas! been a while!~

re: Reasons why being able to put a theme on your OS is necessary for it to be accessible
@Kuniti_shino @researchfairy I havent look at that website for a long while now, but from what I remember, they arent a group of devs against themeing at all though- they want user customisability, they just dont want distributions which package their software to theme them, which i think I find reasonable? Ubuntu forcing its default theme onto all gtk4 apps is bad?

I write this with shaky hands so excited
I finally got this crappy server I have been writing to serialise and create spec compliant gtfs-rt feed!!!! the server is still fucking useless but holy shit it works, its finally working, it took so many weeks of work, and I can't believe I got it to work, but holyshitholyshitholyshit, it finally works!!!!

OOoohh apparently someone fixed the t480 fingerprint driver or something somewhere got fixed because I can use it again (without the hacky ubuntu PPA whoever was maintaining) in the process of figuring out who I hold myself thankful to, I have now found the best Debian team :)

FingerForce Team

https://wiki.debian.org/FingerForce

out of the way Debian Flash, FingerForce is now my favourite.

Anybody using Porkbun for domains and wants heydudenice.wang transferred to them?

Estimated renewal cost is $6.05 USD, and it otherwise expires on Sept 18th this year.

The classic XKCD dependency stack cartoon, but relabeled. The image shows a huge pile of boxes representing "all modern digital infrastructure" precariously balanced atop each other. A label at the right (ha!) says "A project led by a guy who then turns out to be a fascist" and arrows point to a small box sitting on top of many others. Another label at the right says "Where corporate money goes", with three arrows pointing at the small project led by a guy who then turns out to be a fascist

@platinumtulip AWH I WANT ONE THEYRE SO CUTE

new email address acquired, yay! _now to update EVERYTHING that points to my old address, I just want to curl up and hide_

come say hi though <disaster2life@actiu.info>

Whoa. @libreoffice unleashes “no AI as a feature” and breaks download records.

“In one week, the installer was downloaded more than 1 million times — not counting updates via Linux distribution repositories.”

Great work, LibreOffice team! 👏🏻

Had to have a conversation about my mother using ChatGPT/LLMs, telling her about all the environmental and legal concerns,

My mother: "Why were they authorised to release it"

I wonder that too mom, I wonder that too :(

@theakashmondal @contrapunctus
`And every time, a citizen of our nation uses and prefers a map that displays those mistakes, a citizen that smears it off and moves on, is one less citizen that we'll have[...]` I read that inherintly as you claiming if one does not accept the Indian claim then they become not a citizen.

I dont plan on replying any further to you, good day.

@theakashmondal @contrapunctus @libreinator
No I do not care to elaborate, please assume.
I for one, and statistically most of us do not live in any of these border regions, mine, and most people's interactions with those parts of the maps are minimal when actually "navigating" ever.
My existence is ruled illegal* by the Indian state in my religion, identity, and my politics, I do not care for what the Indian Parliament thinks.

@libreinator @contrapunctus @tusharhero in their own message, they claim anyone who fails to recognise the complete Indian claim is not a Citizen, I guess I need to burn my passport, and forget that this "democratic" country values free thoughts and the ideas of international brotherhood, If I cant stand with Indian Army committed war crimes, then I am less an Indian of course.

Free Jammu and Kashmir from **all oppressors**!

@libreinator @contrapunctus @tusharhero sounds like it, *is* it.
