An Android tablet that you then root and run a normal Linux on? You can do this with some models, though unfortunately not all.
There are also some laptops that have detachable screens which then essentially turn into tablets.
Switch to PPP over infrared.
It's the least reliable Internet connection I've ever had but it can't be worse than this...
I think that statement made the person who said that, whoever it is, be the person who looks bad, and you sir are far too kind a human being for not publicly naming and shaming them ๐
+1. Soooo agree.
I had a bot yesterday going 'if this answered your question, you can just hang up', which I thought implied I'd get an actual human on the line afterwards if I stuck around, but no! The bot just hung up on me.
So I had to call back and choose a random different option in the menu. At least that did give me a human and the problem was resolved...
Yes, it could've been worse indeed
You can also buy laptops with Linux installed from major laptop manufacturers these days. Dell and Lenovo, at least.
When you do, it works well.
'als maar kan' literally means 'as but can', but the sentence idiomatically translates to 'as corrupt as possible'
@mirabilos
"I grant you one wish," the magic fish said.
"To eat my mother's pancakes again, just like when I was a child."
"Are you sure?"
"You think it frivolous?"
"No. But to grant it I must send you back to the child you were, with no adult memories."
"Would my life change?"
"You ask that every time."
I am giving up drinking for a month. Sorry, that came out wrong. I am giving up. Drinking for a month.
Try managing it when you move servers.
My current Algo:
- Get the new server
- Add the new server to SPF, and add it as low-prio MX (but don't run anything on port 25, yet)
- wait a month
- cross fingers
- pray to the gods of email. Like, *really* hard
- switch servers, but keep the old server around, just in case
- monitor results
- if problems occur: switch back and fix
@danslimmon
They'll do what they did after the dot com bubble burst: GTFO, wait a decade or so, come back and do it all over again

May you live in interesting times... https://no01.substack.com/p/march-19-21-god-is-a-comedian Three weeks into the Iran war, reality has passed through the looking glass, out the other side, and is now selling tickets to the gift shop. What follows is not satire. Satire requires exaggeration, and you cannot exaggerate something that is already operating at maximum absurdity. This is simply the news, and nothing but the news. Told straight, in a universe that has clearly stopped taking its medication.
