@dannycolin @aki I haven't (and don't intend to) expanded this thread to see what you're replying to. Don't need to. It's funny even just guessing context :)

@Anarcat @amazingmap Alberta has had a "rat patrol" for many decades. All freight trucks and trains must stop just inside the border to be inspected for rats. Any found rats are removed before the vehicle can continue into the province. It doesn't catch 100% of the rats I'm sure, but it is very effective at helping to keep numbers low

Canada Computers had credit card skimmer
Anybody here buy anything from #CanadaComputers online store in the last few months? You may want to have your bank cancel your card. @highvoltage WHAT on Earth makes you think you aren't capable of using vim properly? You are WAY more geek than I and I use vim (though certainly not very powerfully when I see what people around me do with it). Is it a question of changing muscle memory from some other text editor?

@GrapheneOS Ahhh! Thank you!

@GrapheneOS I've got the original problem solved via the Data Saver config. But, I'd like to understand Auditor better. I can't find a way to get to the data usage menu you mention when I have Auditor open. The screenshot shows what I see when Auditor app is open. When I open the 3-dots menu there are 5 options: 1 + 2 are to clear Auditee or Auditor pairings, 3 is to disable remote verification, 4 submits sample data and 5 is for help. How do I get to data usage?

@GrapheneOS Thank you! Indeed, I had Data Saver on and no exception for auditor. However, in the auditor app itself, I see nothing about restricting access to mobile data. Under the 3-dots menu there are options for clearing pairings, disabling remote verification, submitting sample data, and for getting help. But I see nothing about choosing which network to use. Am I missing something?

@GrapheneOS Hi, remote verification fails if I don't have wifi enabled on my phone. Is it supposed to only work via wifi? I couldn't find anything in settings or the remote verification web site to change that behaviour...

@catsalad Night time is the best time for pirate pussy cats to prowl!!

@jmtd Congrats! Looking pretty spiffy!

Debian Quebec
#Debian Québec is having its last meeting of the year Saturday 6 December from 10:30 am to 5 pm at the offices of #EfficiOS on the #Plateau #PMR in #Montreal.

https://agendadulibre.qc.ca/events/2795

Come work on a Debian project or just come and hang out with groovy, sexy Debian types 😁 while working on something else. English, français and português speakers will be in attendance

Hey, @GrapheneOS You're based in #Canada ! So cool ! My chest is puffed out with a bit of nationalist pride :) Go #grapheneos go!

Dear Fédiverse, Does anyone know a way to follow someone without seeing their replies to other peoples' posts. I'd like to hear what this org has to say, but I'm getting drowned in the orgs replies to others' posts. I'm on #pleroma if that matters. Thanks for boosting if you have no answer yourself.

@GrapheneOS /me wishes to express their admiration for the patience and persistence of @GrapheneOS and sends them as large a package of respect as the virtual courier will allow them to ship. They also hope that @GrapheneOS doesn't burn themselves out dealing with this onslaught

Debian & Stuff, Sept 2025
We had a pretty good day with 2 people returning to Montreal after having wandered off for a while, and a fresh attendee, new to Montreal, but not new to Debian, in addition to several of the usual suspects
