Not clear who's behind it, but works for me

Activists' spoof street ad for Meta's AI glasses, showing Epstein as a model saying 'Glasses for people who don't do consent'

My 1.5yr old kid is obsessed with the moon. He asks for it all the time, so we try to bring him outside and show it to him. Of course it's not always visible and he gets sad.

Due to Reasons I happen to have a galaxy projector that also has a built-in pico projector in order to play cheesy "3D" space videos. I figured that it probably had a micro SD card somewhere in it, which turned out to be true.

So with the help of a screwdriver and ffmpeg I've now given my kid his very own moon.

My kid, pointing up at his bedroom ceiling where there's a picture of the moon being projected, surrounded by galaxy projector caustics.

@sundogplanets And, they are further from the equator than you! New project idea for your farm maybe? 🤔 Imagine those waffles with fresh bananas in addition to the raspberries, in winter,..... 😋 🤩

@sundogplanets I send you this link with tongue in cheek because I realise that this place is an exception. It is so exceptionally exceptional that the word exception is really inadequate. But, here it is: https://arkopia.ca/homestead/ for bananas grown in Saskatchewan 😜

If anyone would like to see a very short video of a dog using their tail as a rotor blade, this is your lucky day.

New comic on space mirrors

Selling The Sun

Despite overwhelming objections from scientists, the Trump FCC has approved a space mirror to create “Sunlight on demand.”

Person on Earth in spot being lit by space mirror: What the.?

Among other things, the company promises “unforgettable nighttime experiences for events and public spaces.”

Owl: Not another @&!# midnight corporate retreat!

Besides messing up circadian rhythms, animal navigation, and entire ecosystems, what could go wrong?

Tech bro to astronomer with seared retinas: careful with that telescope! Especially once we have 50,000 of these in orbit.

Coming soon: Blocking the sun unless you pay for it

Farmer in the dark: Hey, what gives?

Tech bro: You haven’t paid your monthly Sun-scription fee!

@sundogplanets TIL that chicks aren't always yellow at first!!

Current activity @ DebConf

Oh gosh I just did the math on the maneuver rate, which I couldn't bring myself to do earlier. More than 207,000 collision avoidance maneuvers in 6 months.

That means that somewhere in the Starlink megaconstellation, a satellite is performing a collision avoidance maneuver EVERY 1.25 MINUTES (EVERY 75 SECONDS)

AAAHHHH I'M SURE THAT'S FINE.

And now I find myself reading about asteroid collisional cascades. For no particular reason...

re: grumpy swear rant about academia and $
@sundogplanets What if you do most purchases with cash?! No transaction in that case... I went to UdeM, but fortunately I never had to ask to be reimbursed for anything.

The Gulf of America on a map. Previously known as the Gulf of Mexico. But with America crossed out and replaced by Belgium

@sundogplanets Looks like a crop circle 😁

@adhdeanasl While the terrain looks much more tame than what you describe and though the lawn looks vastly smaller than how yours sounds, I couldn't help but think of you when I saw this post: https://pleroma.debian.social/notice/B7mZ6Vs4qUgrBErf5E

@sundogplanets apples and carrots should do the trick!

@sundogplanets overcast and raining in Montreal :(

@adhdeanasl @feijoa Maybe she laughs during sleep because you're telling jokes during sleep ?
