I learned today that POSIX specifies a tool designed to assist you in reviewing & modifying LLM-generated code. In typical Unix fashion, they shortened "reviewing & modifying" to just two letters:

$ rm code.rs

It even has command-line options to [r]ecursively [f]ix whole directories of LLM-generated code:

$ rm -rf project/

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this.

Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how.

Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places: https://tuta.com/blog/google-gemini-ai-email

Stolen bike trailer
Hey fediverse in the Montreal area. I'd like to share the poster for my stolen bike trailer with you. I wouldn't bother, except it's one of a kind. I made it. So it should stand out somewhat. Thanks a bunch for sharing with your networks in the Montreal area. #bikes #vélo #Montreal #MTL #theft #stolen

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines.

When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

This is, quite possibly, the most entertaining interview i have ever encountered. You simply *must * read it. It keeps getting better with every question.

@jmtd That's progress in operation 😐

@sundogplanets maybe you could grow the coffee beside the banana plants when you get that going 🙃 @ai6yr

Polar bear!

A bad cartoon / line drawing vaguely resembling a polar bear, with a black line splitting it in two, with a red "plus" at one end, and a red "minus" at the other end.

@sundogplanets a tiny bit of potentially encouraging news: "Musk [said] a reusable heat shield is 'the biggest problem that remains' for Starship....[E]xperts are concerned that [spacex] will be unable to hit the high flight rate needed...for large settlements on the Moon and Mars, orbital data centers, or large-scale space-based solar power." https://arstechnica.com/space/2026/07/despite-recent-successes-rapid-reuse-of-starship-remains-a-tough-nut-to-crack/

My 1.5yr old kid is obsessed with the moon. He asks for it all the time, so we try to bring him outside and show it to him. Of course it's not always visible and he gets sad.

Due to Reasons I happen to have a galaxy projector that also has a built-in pico projector in order to play cheesy "3D" space videos. I figured that it probably had a micro SD card somewhere in it, which turned out to be true.

So with the help of a screwdriver and ffmpeg I've now given my kid his very own moon.

My kid, pointing up at his bedroom ceiling where there's a picture of the moon being projected, surrounded by galaxy projector caustics.

@sundogplanets And, they are further from the equator than you! New project idea for your farm maybe? 🤔 Imagine those waffles with fresh bananas in addition to the raspberries, in winter,..... 😋 🤩

@sundogplanets I send you this link with tongue in cheek because I realise that this place is an exception. It is so exceptionally exceptional that the word exception is really inadequate. But, here it is: https://arkopia.ca/homestead/ for bananas grown in Saskatchewan 😜

If anyone would like to see a very short video of a dog using their tail as a rotor blade, this is your lucky day.

@sundogplanets TIL that chicks aren't always yellow at first!!
